Lost Fillings or Crowns
If you have a lost filling or crown, do your best to find it and keep it in a clean container. There's a chance your dentist may be able to reattach the broken pieces.
A filling or crown is used to cover a hole in your tooth, protecting it from filling with food particles, which could lead to tooth decay. For this reason, it is important to have lost filling and crowns replaced as quickly as possible. If you can’t get to your dentist right away, you can temporarily cover the area with an over-the-counter dental cement to help keep it protected until we can restore it properly.
Call our office as soon as you can to schedule an appointment so we can restore your tooth and prevent any further damage or discomfort.

Chipped or Broken Teeth
If you have a broken or chipped tooth, try to locate any pieces and place them in a clean container. In some cases, your dentist may be able to reattach the broken pieces.
Regardless of whether you can find the piece or not, it’s important to call our office right away. Getting the tooth looked at quickly can help reduce discomfort, protect the exposed area, and prevent further damage.

Knocked-Out Teeth
If you’ve had a tooth knocked out, try your best to find it and keep it safe until you can get to the dentist. If you do find it, pick it by the crown, not the roots, and rinse it gently if it’s dirty. If possible, you can reinsert it into the socket and gently bite down to keep it in place.
If reinserting isn’t an option, keep the tooth moist by placing it in a glass of milk or holding it in your mouth until you can get to our office.
Applying a cold compress to your cheek near the injured area can help reduce pain and swelling. Contact our office and come in as soon as possible.

Swelling, Pain or Discomfort
If you notice sudden swelling in your face, mouth, or neck, or you’re experiencing severe pain or discomfort around your mouth, it’s important to act quickly. Call our office as soon as possible so we can assess your situation and provide the right treatment.
While you wait for your appointment, you can help ease the discomfort by applying a cold compress to the affected area, taking an over-the-counter pain reliever, and rinsing your mouth gently with warm salt water to clear away any debris.
Our dentists will evaluate your condition and recommend prompt treatment to help relieve your pain and protect your oral health.
